Young author Emma Escobar Rivera arrived from New Jersey at the headquarters of the Instituto Nueva Escuela (INE) in Río Piedras last March. Emma, leader of the organization Books Beyond Limits, donated books to our non-profit organization, which works to support public education in Puerto Rico.
In addition, she visited the Manuel Elzaburu y Vizcarrondo Montessori Public School in San Juan, where she shared a reading of her story.“Lucía between two worlds”Her personal experience, captured in this publication and marked by the cultural diversity of her Spanish and Puerto Rican roots in the United States, seeks to serve as support and inspiration to other children.
The students in the auditorium enjoy Emma reading the story.
The visit was filled with joy, excitement, curiosity, and love. The students had the opportunity to ask Emma questions, take photos, and enjoy spending time with the young author.
Emma and the INE's goal is for more and more children and families to enjoy reading as a space for connection, dialogue, and learning together. Therefore, we have included a link to the book in digital format below, so you can share and enjoy it with your children and/or students.
