Autonomy has arrived
The Montessori Public Schools community recently celebrated the publication of a new organizational chart released by the Department of Education (DE) in which the Montessori Education Assistant Secretary (SAEM) returns to its place alongside the Secretary's Office outside the Assistant Secretary of Academic Affairs, thus achieving the curricular and programmatic autonomy that requires being able to carry out the Montessori model successfully and that is established in the Regulation of Law 277: SAEM Regulation.
“This is a big step for the Montessori project. A solid platform is established from which the project can grow healthily, as it did in 2015. This 'autonomy' means greater access, more communities, families, and students will have access to this philosophy and work methodology. This autonomy means 'peace' for the teachers who can now carry out their work under the pedagogy they have studied. The peace of the teacher translates into great achievements for the students. This is what we are celebrating: being able to better serve more boys and girls in our country ”, expressed Ana María García Blanco Executive Director of Instituto Nueva Escuela (INE).
The INE and SAEM have an agreement through which they accompany public schools that decide to follow the Montessori methodology. Both communities promote collective work and shared governance at school, a culture of peace and healthy coexistence, and the “enrollment” of their families.
